Jeronimo “One Kiss”
Pardon me while I rave. You’ll recall that I got all mushy and teary-eyed at “Somebody Who Loves Me”,
the Jeronimo song which hit my chart late last year and rose to #22.
The Brazil-born Dutch singer has done one even better.
“One Kiss” manages to capture the same charm as “Somebody” while riding the crest of success of groups like The Wanted.
You’ll notice a folksy European flavour to “One Kiss” similar to “Glad You Came” and perhaps to other dance hits like
Edward Maya’s “Stereo Love”.
But the real key is Jeronimo, for if his vocal wasn’t so spot on the song would be less than the sum of its parts.

His new single One Kiss is a total corker. Musically it feels like the instrumental is based on an uptempo lambada with a bubbly,
percolating beat that is hard to resist.
Lyrically, it's about a rather coy girl who won't give young Jeronimo a bit of a snog, despite him wooing her at every opportunity
(is she crazy, has she not seen him)?!
The entire tune is filled with this zesty energy and kudos to Jeronimo for his personality totally shines through in both the audio
and the video (above).
His voice is built for charming pop tunes like this, and it absolutely feels like this could be a massive summer smash all across Europe.

Jeronimo is meer dan een eendagsvlieg
Tieneridool Jeronimo heeft al twee weken een nieuwe single uit.
One Kiss, inclusief zonnige videoclip, is een evident vervolg op zijn 2011-zomerhit I Am No Superman.
Ondanks het vrij hoge Vengaboys-gehalte in de compositie, en de wrede auto-tuning, is het een opgewekte vakantiesong geworden.
Ik ben niet vies van de auto-tuning hype in hedendaagse popmuziek. Bovendien weten we dat Jeronimo ook prima live kan zingen.
De clip is in amper twee weken tijd meer dan 100.000 keer bekeken op Youtube, dus we moeten Jeronimo zeker niet onderschatten.
Zijn fans vinden hem geweldig. Geniet van de reacties van tienermeisjes in sociale media. Je voelt van afstand de vlinders in hun buik.
Met olifantengeduld geeft Jeronimo ze één voor één antwoord.
Of hij deukjes in zijn wangen heeft, en ja, die heeft hij, in allebei de wangen.
Of hij een kusje wil geven, en natuurlijk wil hij dat. En niet te vergeten de eindeloze discussie of Jeronimo nu al een meisje heeft.
Nee, die heeft hij nog niet, en dat vinden de meisjes vast niet erg.
Ik word daar heel vrolijk van. Vind ik lief en vertederend. Jeronimo’s fans zullen met hem volwassen worden,
dus ik denk dat een lange carrière voor hem in het verschiet ligt. En zijn popsongs zijn cool, goed geproduceerd, en luisteren lekker weg.
Wekelijks ook de oproep om te stemmen in de Kids Top 20, waarin de jonge god het momenteel opneemt tegen andere kanjers als Rachel,
Monsif, Yes-R, Ralf, Keet!, Lisa, Amy & Shelley, maar ook internationale acts als One Direction, Jessie J en David Guetta.

Dutch twink moves in on the One Direction market.
